Tourists and visitors from the following countries will require Visa-on-Arrival (VOA): United States of America, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, Denmark, the United Arab Emirates, Finland, Hungary, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Norway, France, Poland, Switzerland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Austria, Belgium, Egypt, India, Ireland, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Maldives, People's Republic of China, Portugal, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Spain. VOA will usually valid for either 7 or 30 days upon arrival in Indonesia. A 7-day visa will cost USD10 and a 30-day visa will cost USD25.

Tourist and visitors from the following countries are eligible for free-visa: Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macao, Chile, Morocco, Peru, and Vietnam. However, they’re still required to apply visa at the nearest Indonesian embassy, consulate or foreign mission before visiting Indonesia.

VOA Process

For those visitors that require Visa-On-Arrival, their passports need to be stamped at the VOA counter at Immigration Clearance Desk once they touch the airport. Immigration can only accept payment in US dollar bank notes or Indonesian Rupiahs equivalent. Credit card will be needed to discuss before approved, and it’s not always approved. There are several VOA counters provided at the airport in Jakarta and Bali.

Currency

Indonesian currency is Rupiah (IDR/Rp), and it’s the main currency used in transactions. The biggest fraction of IDR bank note is Rp100,000, and the smallest one is Rp1,000. The biggest fraction of coins is Rp1,000 and the smallest one is Rp25. USD is the second currency that commonly used for transaction in Indonesia. Besides, Singapore dollar is also widely accepted at some regions.
